"I solve photo mysteries the way detectives solve cold cases: by examining all the evidence. I really believe that every photograph tells a story" - Maureen Taylor

Studying Family Photographs-From Here, There and Everywhere

No doubt about it.investigating family photographs can be a challenge. This lecture explores techniques used to date photographs regardless of where they were taken. Photographs of immigrant ancestors contain evidence of an ancestor's origins and migratory paths. Learn a series of techniques for reading the immigrant clues, finding additional images and adding to your genealogical knowledge. Case studies will be included.

Maureen Taylor is an internationally recognized expert on the intersection of history, genealogy, and photography, providing in-depth analysis of historical photos, primarily for people who are researching their family histories. .Maureen estimates that she's studied over 10,000 photos in the past decade and The Wall Street Journal recently called her "the nation's foremost historical photo detective. She has a graduate degree in history and has worked as a photo curator, genealogist, and writer.
